You’re not broken. It may be hormones — and you’re not alone.

Many women — and trans and non-binary people — experience significant emotional and mental health challenges during perimenopause and menopause. This is the stage of life when periods become irregular and eventually stop, driven by changing hormone levels.

Yet the mental health impact is still too often overlooked or misunderstood.

A powerful UK qualitative study spoke to 42 women who experienced serious mental health difficulties during perimenopause or menopause.
Some shared thoughts of not wanting to be alive.
Others had attempted suicide.
For most, these feelings were completely new and deeply frightening.

They described feeling:

  • Hopeless
  • Overwhelmed
  • Exhausted
  • Like they had “nothing left to give”

These experiences were not a personal failure — they were linked to hormonal changes, lack of understanding, and lack of support.

💬 This is why we’re creating a safe space.
