About Jak’s World
Jak’s World is a small, agile and heartfelt charity determined to change the conversation around suicide prevention, postvention and mental health. Rooted in lived experience and community, we create safe spaces, reduce stigma, and bring hope to those who need it most.
As we grow, we are strengthening our governance to ensure Jak’s World is safe, sustainable, and impactful for the long term.
The Role of a Trustee
Trustees are legally responsible for the governance, strategy, safeguarding, financial oversight and long-term sustainability of Jak’s World. This is a strategic, leadership role – not a hands-on support or training position.
As a Trustee, you will: – Provide strategic direction and constructive challenge – Ensure strong governance, compliance and safeguarding – Oversee financial health and risk management – Support sustainable growth and income generation – Protect the values, integrity and reputation of Jak’s World.
Trustees work collectively as a board and share responsibility for decisions.

We are particularly interested in people with experience in one or more of the following areas:
We also welcome applicants with lived experience of suicide, bereavement or mental health challenges, where this is paired with professional experience, emotional resilience and the ability to hold strategic responsibility.
What We Are Not Looking For

- Trusteeship is not a development or training position
- Trusteeship is not a peer support or counselling role
If you are looking to support Jak’s World through volunteering, community work or peer support, we would be delighted to hear from you – but trustee roles require specific governance and leadership skills.
Our Values
All trustees must align with the core values of Jak’s World: – Compassion – Integrity – Respect – Inclusion – Accountability – Lived experience informed practice
We are a values-led organisation and expect trustees to embody these principles in both decision-making and behaviour.
